Competent Crew Course
The Competent Crew course is designed for students that have been sailing a few times and now want to learn the basics in a structured manner to then move forward to the Day Skipper Course.

Knowledge of:
- sea terms and parts of a boat
- her rigging and sails
- sail handling
- ropework
- fire precautions and fighting
- personal safety equipment
- man overboard
- emergency equipment
- meteorology
- seasickness
- helmsmanship
- general duties
- manners and customs
- rules of the road
- dinghies
Ability after course:
By the end of this 5 day course you will have literally ‘learned the ropes’ and have a good understanding of what it takes to crew a modern yacht. After the course you should be able to get on any yacht and be able to be a real part of the crew. You will then know how to use the winches and sail controls, to steer, keep a lookout, row a dinghy and assist in all the day to day routines at your Skippers direction.
